Are Your Thoughts Sabotaging Your Everyday Life?

Something major happened last night, my 3 year old son actually sat on the potty, VOLUNTARILY sat on the potty, and took a poo for the first time, while I was folding laundry. In all of his 3 years of life on this earth, this was the first time it wasn't a fight to sit still and take a poo break.


YAY!!! Cue the horns, the balloons, the candy, the dance party, whatever this kids has been longing for, he will get in this moment. So long as I never have to change another poopy Pull-Up again! This is so exciting! Normally, I am sticking him on the toilet every 15 minutes or so, and practically pinning him down, so he can sit still for a minute and begging him to poop. Like, HOWWW in the world will he ever poop like that?! #stressfulshit I mean, for real....


I started to tell myself, this was NEVER going to happen. OMG kid, why are you not going poo on the potty. Like, what am I missing here? Then, when I least expect it, the day that I decided to take a step back from the every 15 minute potty break approach, there he goes! His tiny feet pitter patter across the floor while he's pulling his pants down on the way, sits....and poop's.


Halle-freakin'-llujah. It's a Christmas miracle. Phillip has pooped on the potty all by himself!


Why am I starting this blog post off with a shit story? Well, I'm so glad you asked.

You see, for the last few weeks, I have been sabotaging myself and I didn't even realize it. It was one of those things that you look back on and your like, geeze lady, no wonder why this wasn't working. Now, could my approach have been different and maybeeee a little calmer? Yes. But what was driving these actions?


My thoughts.


I was hell bent on getting this kid to poop on the potty. My husband and I were having discussions on what was wrong with him that he wasn't getting it yet. His sister was 100% potty trained by the time she was 2, so we were playing the comparison game with the two of them, but that's a mistake for a different blog post. The point is, I was convinced this was never going to happen. I stressed about it, put that stress onto my poor son, and in turn was getting out of this scenario what I was putting into it....STRESS! Once I decided to let go a little, take a step back, well wouldn't ya know....success!


Thoughts Become Actions


Whether you are training for a marathon, or teaching a toddler to use the toilet, your thoughts manifest into your reality. If you are telling yourself every single morning when you wake up before your run, that this is impossible. "How am I ever going to run 26 miles?! What was I thinking signing up for this with my sister?! She's obviously got way more experience than me, and this is never going to happen for me." What results do you think you are going to create for yourself?


Answer...Not the results you are yearning for, I can tell ya that.


Understanding How The Law Of Attraction Works (LOA)


Many people have a distorted view of what the LOA is these days. Due to is massive popularity in the recent years, thanks to the movie "The Secret", it has given people a false sense of what the law actually is. It has been made to seem like a very simple, almost magical process in which you just imagine what you want and “BAM!“ it’s there, sitting on your front doorstep as you walk outside of your house. That $1 million dollars you've been longing for just showed up.


Ummm I don't think so, friend.


This Universal Law, is so much more complex than what it has been marketed to be. The thing that I find most disappointing, is that due to the false expectations of this law, it has caused so many people to poo poo (there's that word again) off the idea as something that is silly or doesn't work because they are expecting immediate results without having to lift a finger or break a sweat.


The truth is, this law ALWAYS works. Always. It literally cannot fail. This is how the Universe has always and will always work. The Law of Attraction is similar to the Law of Gravity, you can’t see it and you usually aren't consciously aware of it, however, if you look closely enough, you can see the amazingness in action and it's pretty freaking incredible.


Learning how to use this one of the 12 Universal Laws takes time. Not only is it a skill that takes some practice, but the actual "manifestation" process of it takes time as well, but rest assured friend, It will happen. It will ALWAYS happen. The biggest problem I see when it comes to LOA is that people get impatient and give up wayyyyyyy too fast.


Patience is the key quality to have an ultimately successful life.


My intention with this blog post is to explain the Law of Attraction and break it down simply and actionable for you. So if it starts to sound a little too wacky for you, hang in there. I promise you'll get it at the end.


Everything is Vibration


First things first, everything, and I mean everything, is in a constant state of vibration. From the shoes on your feet to the water in your faucet to the lego that you stepped on earlier this morning. All of it. Everything that is on God's green earth is in a constant state of vibration. It's called the Law of Vibration, another one of the 12 Universal laws and the foundation of the Law of Attraction. It's Quantum Physics, babe and there is a rabbit hole here, but let's avoid that for now.


See, the human brain is so smart that it actually takes these vibrations all around you and translates it into your "reality" so that you can't even recognize this vibration. So, in a sense you can get all Matrixy and say that your reality is all in your head. Kinda trippy, right? Think about it. What is color? Vibration. What is sound? Vibration. Everything around you is nothing more than vibrations that your brain has translated in order to make sense out of it.


With this known FACT that everything around you is vibration, it's still very hard for us, as humans, to grasp this on an emotional level. (Which, I feel like, just proves how weak our thinking is compared to our emotions, but let's stay on topic here.) Accepting this truth on a logical level, is much different than actually believing this and applying it to your life.


Stay with me, friends. This will all make sense in a moment...


Like Attracts Like


The second part to understand of this law is that vibrations of similar frequencies are drawn together. For example, have you ever entered a room and felt like something weird was going on? The energy felt heavy and you can cut the tension with a knife? That's a low vibration. Your frequency was picking up on that frequency. Your intuition was like..."ummmm what's going on here and what did I miss."


We've all heard the quote "misery loves company." Same concept. Lower vibrations WANT to and need to, attract lower vibrations. But just as so, higher vibrations WANT to and need to attract higher vibrations.


Bottom line...you attract what matches your energy vibration.


Think of yourself as a giant cell phone tower putting out a signal. Your tower is your essence, your core, your character. It represents who you are in that moment in time, when you are sad or happy - how you are projecting yourself into the world, at that very moment.


These projections are the energy you give off that attracts like energy to you.

Ok, Kris...so what does this mean, exactly?


This means that if you are sitting at home depressed as shit, feeling sorry for yourself because you have no sales, or your bank account is overdrawn, or your obsessing over how your ex boyfriend fucked you over 20 years ago, or how much you hate your job, you are in turn attracting all of these things back into your life on a subconscious level. Think of your subconscious as mother nature. It's your natural intuition and the motherboard of all that you do. And when mama ain't happy, ain't nobody happy.


Good news...you have the ability to control your vibrations you are putting out, which in turn can improve the quality of your life by drastic measures.


This is why gratitude lists are such an important way of life. This is why I teach all of my clients to practice present tense journaling.


When you are focusing on lack, you will attract lack. When you focus on abundance, you will attract abundance.


How about, I'm so thankful that my boyfriend screwed me over, otherwise I never would have learned that lesson I did (channeling my inner Ariana Grande..."Thank You, NEXT")


How about, I am so grateful that I have this job until I am able to find something that will fulfill my greater purpose in life, WHILE YOU ARE LOOKING TO FIND THAT JOB THAT WILL FULFILL YOUR GREATER PURPOSE.


How about, instead of sitting here focusing on everything that is going wrong in my life, I am going to focus on what I have and concentrate on making small changes every single damn day, on what I dislike in my life so much.


How Can I Switch My Vibration


Shifting your thoughts and bringing your vibrations to a higher state are about breaking the thought patterns in your head. It's about doing something different. It's about changing your emotional environment, so you can change your attitude.


It's about jumping up and down for absolutely no reason at all.


It's about blasting your favorite song and busting into a ridiculous solo dance party.


It's about turning your favorite comedian on TV so you can laugh out loud and hear joy from yourself for the first time in days.


It's about writing a list of 10 things that you are grateful for in that very moment.


It's about writing the affirmation "I am so grateful that I was able to pay all of my bills so quickly this month" over and over and over again.


It's about looking in the mirror and telling yourself how beautiful you are, and how you are worthy of all of the amazing things that this Universe has to offer you.


The trick here, is to do something different from what you've been doing…and to do it for a long enough time that your thoughts, feelings, and beliefs change.


You don't have to be perfect and it may seem forced at first. But. Just. Start.


Just begin, and keep doing it.


Do a little more each day, until you see your vibrations attract the things and life you want.


Focus on the things that you have that bring you joy. Say thank you too God or the Universe for giving you these things. Act as if you already have everything that you have ever wanted in your life, and attract that into your life in return.
